I'm out of control...
OK, finally caught up to today after my marathon of posts. Here is Henry escaping the playground:
Henry in the cabinet, and Owen on our park picnic this morning:
Owen, swinging, grumpily:
Merci, MaMere!
Look what MaMere sent us!!! Magnifique! The boys LOVE their new plates and forks and spoons. They ate off of them last night and didn't throw them on the floor!! Thank you so much!!!! XOXOXO
Not a single strawberry
We went to Great Country Farms on Saturday to check out their Strawberry Festival. We got there late and stood in line. The strawberries were all picked out, and there were a billion people there. Owen had a meltdown, and I was the only one who ate a strawberry. Oh well.
Reunions
Last week, the boys and I headed up to Maryland to visit some childhood friends of mine. More than childhood friends, actually. Childhood "sisters"! It had been too long since we had seen each other. Now that we know at least ONE of the A-clan lives "nearby," I hope we can visit more often. Here's to hoping this is the re-beginning of a good friendship.
Here are some shots of the day - Ricky and Jenna; Sarah, me, and Becky (photo by Ricky!):
Ricky on the swing, Henry in the rocking chair:
Owen mowing the lawn, Jenna snoozing:
Oh, and we are super sorry about the broken glass. Thank goodness it was just a glass and not the kitchen table, or the bird, or Jenna.
"yep, full of love...."

You've got to be kidding me
-Aid workers and UN peacekeepers are sexually abusing vulnerable children
-Children as young as 6 have been forced to trade food for sex and raped
-Charity: A grotesque abuse of authority and violation of children's rights

Sorry to be a downer, but seriously....can this be real?

Art Show and Lunch
Daddy and Henry sharing a breadstick at lunch last weekend. We went to the Art Show at Reston Town Center. After some fun running around, we had lunch at Paolo's and then hung out by the fountain.

"Airpluh! Buh buh!"
Today we ventured to the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum. We have taken the boys before, but thought they would enjoy it more now, considering their extreme obsession with airplanes. And birds. We had a pretty good time chasing them around. They wanted to be carried most of the way, which we fought tooth and nail. Their favorite part, after the McDonald's chicken nuggets, was the McDonald's Happy Meal toy. But then after that, their favorite thing was the observation tower. Owen was screaming his head off every time and airplane flew by. The three of us sat on the floor and just watched planes fly by while Daddy took pictures and looked for landmarks (I'm guessing here....since that's what he usually does...). After we came home we napped and now we are watching the Indiana Jones trilogy on usa. Fun times!
I thought the sign saying "keep off" was funny, considering we didn't.

Big Truck Days
The town of Herndon has an event each year called "Big Truck Days." I knew when I saw the ad in the paper that it would be love at first sight. After driving around for nearly 30 minutes looking for a parking place and realizing that I was speaking along with Elmo's World ("Now it's your turn, Hassan....") in my angry voice, I illegally parked in a loading zone. I knew it would rain soon, so we would be able to beat the tow truck if the jerks at the public works building decided to tow a poor mother of twins. I didn't consider that we WERE at the public works building which has an endless supply of tow trucks. Alas, we weren't towed. But we did get rained on. But it was all worth it.

In the loader of the front loader and the big loader:
Owen saying, "Is Henry done yet? I'll just sit here and wait by this big rock."
Oh, and yesterday. We perfected our skill of climbing onto the chair together to watch - what else? - Elmo's World. La la la la!
