Oh, do I have a blog here?

Sorry, peeps. I forgot about my blog!
Recap time.
- I gained a pound a half at ww! I was pissed!
- It was jersey day at school on Friday and I dressed Charlotte as a white trash jersey girl. Right?
-Yesterday the kids were playing "backpack" (a fun game that consists of filling your backpack with a bunch of shit from the floor/shelves and then forgetting you put it in there a few hours later and throwing a massive temper tantrum because you want whatever it was) and we had to take another white trash picture of Charlotte, which led to each of the boys taking a picture of the other boy. Yay, Saturdays!
- Ran 6 miles today and it was good!
-We had our first "SNOW" day on Friday. Because of the massive rain and flooding, we had no school on Friday. Best day ever!!!
- That about sums it up.

"I don't want it to be summer anymore!"

Our first full day of summer vacation and those words were uttered screamed by Henry after he got an itchy bug bite.

This bug bite occured as we walked back home from the little park with Owen hysterically yelling "PIGGY BACK RIDE NOW!" and "BAD MOMMY!"

Today after swim lessons, Henry darted across the street twice without me. I freaked out, told him he would be in time-out at home and he responded by slapping Owen across the face.

This morning while snuggling up with Owen reading a book he looked at me and said, "When are we going back to Chrissy's?"

Charlotte woke up from her nap and said, "Mommy, ear hurts."

Sheesh. I remember pre-kids how I would sleep in, eat croissants with jelly on the deck, then go sit by the pool all day and read.

I know, it's just day 1. I hope days 2-60 are a little better....

AUNT RITA ROCKS

Dear Aunt Rita,

I am the worst niece ever! You are so wonderful to send me cards, gifts, money, and wonderful messages and I don't reply. And the guilt is eating me alive!!!

I love you and Uncle David and I can't wait until you come visit me in November.

Thank you for the gifts and notes and kindness. You are such a special person and so thoughtful.

I am going to try harder to show it!!!!

Love,
Jane

ps. I will let you win at spoons at Thanksgiving.
pps. Here is a picture of Charlotte in her Austin t-shirt.

To pack or not to pack

Every year at school we are given a stern warning that we should never, under any circumstances, put anything away for the summer before the children leave. Because if we did that, the students would know that summer is close and they will *gasp* STOP paying attention because they will know that we have already checked out for the year. Never mind that they know their report card grades are due 2 weeks before school gets out, or that teachers are arm wrestling over the Disney movies in the library because we are out of crap to teach. No, we must not pack up anything!!

But, people, what if you are pregnant? I am not about to lug 80 children's books from bookshelf to closet, carry 10 xylophones down the hall to storage, and possibly get kind of sweaty taking posters down as my amniotic fluid runs down my legs on the last day of school!

So I am being veerrrryyyyy sneaky. Each day, a few things get put away, or thrown away, or hidden. The trick is to leave the crap on the walls so it doesn't look too bare. I also made my sub a list that says "How to Pack up the Music Room" so it looks like i haven't already done everything. But seriously, do I want to come back from summer vacation to a trashed out classroom? Do I really want to find that my sub kept my coffee mug full of coffee in the closet because they weren't sure what to do with it? And finally, do I want to have to call out the search dogs come August because some doofus sub hid my conductor's baton? I NEED THAT, DAY ONE!!! How will I control the kids without my conductor's baton?

Nope and nope.

Our first baby

Look at this pitiful baby! Jamison has been sick for a while, and we just got the diagnosis that it's Lyme disease. Luckily, the antibiotics he is on should take care of it, but he has been hurting and pretty pitiful lately. We are glad to have answers....even though it did cost us an arm and a leg and should have been found sooner....but it's worth it to have Jamison feeling better.
Here's Henry saying "It's O-O-O-O-O-O-O-K!"

Owen update: He fell off the dining room chair on Saturday, which sent us to the ER with a cut on his head. He was a very brave boy and got 2 staples to hold his brains in. The best moment was the O and H reunion when we got home - big bear hugs and lots of laughing. While Owen was getting fixed up, he kept leaning toward the door and yelling "Henry!" and Grandpa told us that while we were gone, Henry ate most of his dinner but didn't finish because it was for "Owie."
And on another note, for those of you that aren't in the know....I thought that since the famous Mommy blogger, Dooce, and the wanna-be famous Mommy blogger(and my favorite blog, too), Crissy, plus my friends Lisa and Melissa, and even a blog I've been reading for a long time, DaMomma, are all pregant.....that I'd join the team, too. Due date: June 13th. Just one this time.

some things that are annoying me right now

LYING. If you are going to take money out of your budget to buy ad space, can you please make it truthful? While I do not understand how anyone can be undecided at this point, there are 7% of them left. Stop the lying. Just be a good person.

Oh, and if I see one more "Democrat for McCain" sticker, I may scream. You can't be a democrat and vote for McCain. If you do, you aren't a democrat, but merely a Republican who might have voted democrat before. If you believe in a woman's right to choose, and you are voting for McCain, you are not a democrat.

Yeah, and if one more person says that Obama is a socialist who pals around with terrorists and wants to raise your taxes, I might scream. Just go to his damn website and read his plans. They are very clear. Be educated if you are going to take a stand.

Oh, one more thing that is annoying me. The hatred. I have never seen so much hate towards anyone in my lifetime as I have seen from many republicans. People are screaming "Kill him!" and "Terrorist!" and "Off with his head!" at McCain/Palin rallies???? WHY IS THIS OK?????? WHY????? Hatred like this is NEVER OK. And besides, Obama is a really likeable guy. There is nothing to hate. I feel sad for people who hate. What's the point? Why waste your energy?

Are you in the 7%? One site that gives a good idea of who you might lean toward is http://www.selectsmart.com/ Click the presidential election quiz.

And if your choice doesn't win, suck it up, come together as a country, and support your President.

**Edited to Add: My Dad just called me and they went to a local Obama rally and their back car window was busted out and "McCain" written on the car. CLASSY.**

pumpkin fun

We spent the morning Saturday at a local pumpkin patch. We went last year and had a blast, but this year was even better. The boys LOVED the slides and the pumpkins. After the initial "nooooo!" screamed out when T and I dragged them down their first slide, they happily ran back up the hill to go again....and again.....and again.....
They had a big wooden train that the boys loved, too. Choo Choo!

Along with the price of admission, they let you pick out a pumpkin on the way out, and the boys love theirs!!! "Upka!"

Unfortunately, I came home today to let the dogs out, then left for 10 minutes to pick up the boys, and in that time, some big douche stole one of our upka's. I yelled out in the middle of the street "Oh, nice! Steal a pumpkin from a baby, you jerk!" I'm so pissed. Makes me want to give out carrot sticks on Halloween to our lame neighbors. The boys and I even took a walk to see if we could find our pumpkin, and no luck. SO LAME.

I have issues.

I want to vent so bad about work. But man, so many people at work read my blog. (HI.) I'm gonna have to start a new blog. I think I'll call it "Being a teacher rocks, but dealing with adults is lame."

Definitely.

I've got some good bathing beauty pictures coming soon.

1 week down.

Finished the first week of work. Kids start on Tuesday. Here is my news, bulleted of course:

- I am slacking on pictures...sorry GaGa. I don't even know where the camera is right now. I will take some this weekend.

- My favorite student of all time transferred to another school. He was one of those people that was making my return to school bearable. Now I'm not so sure. At least I still have Clara's Mommy.

- After our bad interview, we hired this rockin' lady to be my music counterpart 2 days a week. After she walked out, I told my bosses that they should fire me and hire her. I will need to think of a nickname for her. I am leaning towards The Bomb.

- Owen and Henry's new favorite word is "no" and it is cracking me up. They say "no" to everything now. Everything.

- Got news that Tuesday got to ride in the wagon today with her sister and even got to make a trip outside. So great.

- That speech rocked. You know what I'm talkin' about.

Things not to say in an interview for a music teaching position

"If a kid is being really bad, I'd have to kick them out."

"I just took my praxis for the fifth time and am waiting for scores."

"I don't have a discipline plan."

"I just don't put up with kids being bad."

"I've only spent 45 minutes in an elementary classroom."

"Um...if you came into my classroom? Uh....we'd be singing, I guess. And moving."

You give me pink eye NOW?

Tuesday update on JK's blog.

So, the past few days, I thought I had strep throat. Bad pain and white spots. I made an appointment for this morning, but woke up to a painless throat. So, I cancelled. I guess it's not strep. It hurts a bit now, but is much better than it has been. Sheesh.

Anyway, I woke up with a better throat but with PINK EYE!!! Thanks, boys!!!

And, to clarify - I'm not back to work yet. We are doing daycare trial runs this week. 1 and a half hours yesterday, 2 hours tomorrow, should be fun! If I wake up tomorrow with a sore throat, hopefully I can use my 2 hours to get a throat culture.

We have a Sesame Street DVD called "Sing, Hoot, and Howl" that has a bunch of animal songs on it. Now, every time we get in the car, the boys ask for it by singing their favorite song, "Bah bah Bahmba!" Cracks me up.

Bathtub woes

I took an epsom salt bath. It was a humiliating experience. But it actually did help my symptoms. Unfortunately, shoving my fat ass into a m...
