Deep answers to deep questions

You know that phase where your child starts asking "Why?" to everything? We are square in that phase with Owen right now. "Why is that our house?" "Why is the sky blue?" "Why are we driving this way?" and on and on....

Today in the car, we turned the tables, and our boy gave us some surprisingly deep answers. I admit, I got a little teary.

Me: Owen, why are we on the earth?
Owen: We not on the earth.

Me: Owen, why are alive?
Owen: We not alive.

Me: Owen, why are we people?
Owen: We not people. We a familly.

I wouldn't go in there, either

At the park today, the boys had to use the potty. At this park, the choice for potties is either the green port-a-john or the grey port-a-john. Henry chose the green one, and then Owen and I went next. He got ready, looked in, and said, "What dat?" and I told him, "Other people's pee." He said, "I can't go in here. I need a better potty." So we looked in the grey potty and he said, "Nope, I can't go in there either. I need a better potty."

There are days that being a male are useful and preferable. When you can pee in the woods behind a tree without getting your socks wet? One of those days.

The transformation of Owen

We went to the petting zoo on Saturday. Owen, as usual, was scared of feeding and petting the animals.
The day started like this:

Then he saw this cute little lamb....
And pretty soon, he was feeding pigs, goats, sheep, and even petting some!

Maybe he's over himself now. Drama queen.

White is the new black

For tonsil spots, that is.

I have three kiddos today that are feeling a bit lousy, I think. O has a sore throat, H is grumpy and whiny, and B is just a little clingy and quiet. I hope they all don't have a bug. Maybe it's the weather. Poor bubs.

I thought it would be mean to take a picture of all three of them crying, so I tried to cuddle them all instead. None of them enjoyed that moment. :) I just have to give them individual cuddles. And some extra Elmo today.

We did gather rocks, wash them, and paint them! Henry added a nice touch to his when he spit up on it. We'll have to paint them again because I wanted to make a rock garden outside but I realized I used washable paint. Rain, duh. Of course do I really want them using non-washable paint? What a dilemma. I don't see myself running outside at every rainfall and bringing in the rocks, that's for sure.

TT

O slept in our bed.
Wearing his racecar slippers.
Late, bolting upright,
"Uh oh!" he whispered to me.
Again. "UH OH!" Louder. "SHOE!"

Bathtub woes

I took an epsom salt bath. It was a humiliating experience. But it actually did help my symptoms. Unfortunately, shoving my fat ass into a m...
