Weigh-In Wednesday

Down 2.8 pounds this week. A miracle, I think. It was my birthday weekend and I drank a lot. This was the first week I went over my points and dipped into my activity points. So, needless today, I am surprised that I lost. I feel like sometimes my body is a week behind what I actually did that week.
Here is all of the activity I did this week! Yeah, I turned 31 on Saturday and then drank so much I didn't work out Sunday or Monday, and then yesterday I was lazy, and today too busy. Back to the grind on Friday. I think exercise boosted me to a loss this week.

My 2 friends who have joined WW with me also lost this week. I did miss the meeting tonight because I had all 3 kiddos with me at weigh-in. Then we went to Red Robin and I had a turkey burger (which I thought was a good choice, but was 17 points! Shit!) Luckily, I haven't had too many points today, so it wasn't too bad in the end.

On another food note, another strange things has been thrown my way in the form of a possible peanut allergy. A few weeks ago I had to go to the ER because of a reaction to something - I was given benadryl, steroids, and a prescription for an Epi-Pen. I have avoided peanuts ever since because I had eaten a crunchy PB sandwich that day (even though I eat peanut butter all the freaking time) and haven't had any of my regular hives since then. Yesterday I had a big hive reaction after eating some granola that was nut-free (but manufactured on a possible nut machine) and am starting to reeeeaaaalllllly think I might be allergic to peanuts. And how much that sucks. Like, really sucks. Like, I am going to be so depressed if this is true. I see an allergist on Nov 1.

Luckily there aren't peanuts in the wine I drink.

Wednesday Weigh-In

Down 1.2 pounds tonight at Weight watchers. Anna and I went to the GYM before WW tonight, what a success!!! I am super sore. Back when I was skinny (pre-marriage I was super skinny!) I would do the stairmaster at the gym (the best gym ever, Centre Club in Gurnee, IL) and this afternoon I decided to jump right in and try it again. It was freaking hard. But I did 30 minutes and went 70 flights. It is definitely a harder workout than the elliptical, which I usually do. Then I did some situps and some back exercises. My lower back seems very weak and sore, I am hoping to find some good exercises to strengthen that. Any suggestions?

Tonight's weight watchers topic was portion control. It was kinda boring. But it was the first meeting where EVERYONE in the meeting lost weight! So, a good week for all.

I have noticed my clothes are fitting better, and yesterday at Girls on the Run it felt much easier to keep up with the girls. So, that's good. I just want to weigh 53 pounds less and I'll be over the moon.

In other news, boys got new beds tonight. Henry screamed for a bit after bedtime because he wanted his little bed back. He better get over that shit. Pictures to come - they picked out some super cute bedding.

Another confession....

I am addicted to.....

It's a problem.
But just look at my latest achievement:

Fail!

Yesterday I had a little adventure to the Emergency Department because of an allergic reaction to something....I think it was the peanut butter I ate for lunch. It was a new brand of PB, and even though I eat PB sandwiches a couple of times a week, it's the only thing that was different about my day. So while at the ER I was given steroids and benadryl........

.....and that is my excuse for having GAINED weight at today's weigh-in. I haven't gained any weight since I started WW 8 weeks ago. And this week I ate well and I exercised more often, too. So prednisone is my excuse. And I'm stickin' to it, because if I had just gained 2 pounds and done everything else right besides having a wacked out allergic reaction and been given medicine that supposedly makes you retain water, I would quit so fast it wouldn't even be funny.

But still, CRAP!

Pommes

We went apple picking yesterday. It was hot and fun! The boys enjoyed picking them and walking through the orchard. We got too many apples, though. And 2 pumpkins.
Side note celebration....I bought those green shorts at the beginning of the summer without trying them on. They were too tight and it was so depressing. Look! They fit!!!! :)
The apple pie we made: 5 points a slice!

Confessions....

In 2005, Todd and I starting trying to get pregnant. After about a year, we had no luck, so we started looking into fertility stuff - and I decided to stop worrying about it and get healthier. I started Weight Watchers and lost about 20 pounds. I made my appointment to get my pipes checked to see if something infertile was going on down there. My fertility appointment turned into my blood test to see how pregnant I was!

Fast forward....twins....not losing the pregnancy weight after weeks of bedrest.....then Charlotte.....gaining more weight and not losing that....counting on breastfeeding to make me thin (What!? Why didn't that work!???)....and summer rolling around and realizing there were other moms in the pool (who had obviously given birth on their way to the pool) that weren't just skinny, but skinny and FIT.

August rolled around, and I went to New York with Daisy. We were late for the show, and had to run to get there on time. When I slumped into my seat seconds before the overture began, completely out of breath, and with blistered inner thighs, I realized it was time. TIME. TO. CHANGE.

I rejoined Weight Watchers on August 11th and weighed more than I ever thought I would. (I am confessing about my weight loss journey so far, but until I reach a comfortable weight for myself, I don't think I can tell you my "numbers" just yet.) I left the first day without attending the meeting and came home and cried in the shower. I didn't understand how I let myself get like this. I felt shame and repulsion. Embarassment and guilt. And depression.

Week 1 I thought I would starve to death. But it surely opened my eyes into how much I was massively over-eating. Not only would I eat a massive amount of food on my own plate, but I ate everything the boys didn't eat, everything Charlotte didn't eat, and then every snack left in every bowl they had. Plus late night snacks, sodas, chocolate bars at work, and m&m's galore. Tracking everything I ate the first week was illuminating.

Week 1 I lost 6 pounds.

I have now lost 15 pounds total in 7 weeks and I am feeling the tug of wanting to slide back into old habits. Hence, my going public. I need more motivation, and having to tell you about my SUCCESS will help me.

Tonight's meeting was about how those around us can help us. I am using my online friends now to motivate me. One of the things our leader said tonight was to be assertive and say, "I need..."

So, I will! I NEED WORDS OF AFFIRMATION!
