We are entertaining Todd's whole family this weekend! It's been a lot of help, and Todd and I finally ate like normal people today - you know, before 3PM, not just a handful of Lays, etc. We had bagels, subs, and Outback! Excellent. The boys, too, are eating like hogs! They have been taking more then 3 ounces at each feeding today! Pigs!
It's finally time for bed - everyone is gone or in bed. Except us, of course. We're heading there now. Yay!

How can anyone afford food???
I have been meeting with day care providers and am shocked at the weekly rates for our cutie-pies!!! I mean, I knew that it would be high because of where we live, but I didn't realize that even home day care providers would be so high. Seriously. I have been to a few places and while I like the people, I can't justify spending $450 a week on day care. Unfortunately, not working is not an option. And when you figure it will just be until the summer starts, I guess it's not too much in the long run.

We're all home!!!
Owen came home this afternoon! Now we are all home and getting to know each other a little better. Both boys look and sound just alike, so we are going to spend some time figuring out how to tell them apart before we take off their arm bands!!
Owen weighed 4 lbs 9 oz when he was discharged today and so far is doing well. Both ate and now both are napping (and grunting) in their bassinet.
Time to eat and rest!

Henry's home!
Our little Henry came home yesterday afternoon. We came home and were all tired, so we rested all afternoon and evening. Mom went to visit Owen around 5 and Dad went around 8. It is very hard having Owen in the NICU still, but it's the best place for him. He needs to learn how to eat better than he is! Hopefully he'll be home before Christmas....fingers crossed.
The night with Henry was pretty good. It is hard to have to get up to feed him and get up to pump, but we did OK. The hardest part was not being able to fall asleep because I wanted to make sure he was breathing all night! I could barely close my eyes for 5 minutes because I was so nervous. Plus, he hasn't pooped since we've been home, so every sound I hear I think he's pooping, get excited, then it's just gas! I hate to say it, but I think he may have just pooped...it's sure to be a blowout!!! :)
Today we plan to visit Owen separately (I'll try not to cry this time) and hang out at home and nap. It's hard to imagine what this will be like when Owen comes home, too...but I think we can do it! Here's to hoping.

Big boys!
Owen is about an ounce away from his birth weight! He's starting to figure out how to eat, too. Keep up the good work, Owen!
Henry had his feeding tube removed today!! He is taking all of his feedings by mouth, now! Way to go!
Mom spent 3 hours with them this afternoon and will go back with Dad later tonight. We are taking infant CPR on Saturday and either relaxing with a baby or relaxing in preparation for a baby.
Can't wait for them to come home!!!

Our first family photo
Those boys sure are identical! :)
Here is our first family photo and another one of just the boys being held together for the first time.
Henry is trying to be a big boy and the nurses said he ate his bottle in 10 minutes and cried because he was hungry beforehand. Good progress!! Owen is still a little uncertain of what to do when a bottle is put in his mouth, but he'll come around soon, we think! They are both just too cute for words and the apples of my eye. It's getting harder and harder to leave them there each day. I know the nurses say I can stay all day if I want to, but I feel like I'm in the way a little bit, plus there are many things to do to get ready. I went to Babies R Us today and bought out their preemie clothes and diapers. I got some cute things! I spent every penny of our gift cards and then some. I also bought carseat covers to keep them warm when we get to take them home. I am hoping this coming weekend will bring us some good news!
Both are weighing around 3 lbs 12 oz stil, but gaining weight slowly. They haven't lost weight in 2 days. I can't get enough!!!

The family noses
Well, now we've officially got 3 schnozzes in the family! We took this picture today of Todd and Owen and they look just alike! It's too bad they didn't get Mom's cute button nose, but hopefully they will get her shining personality. :)
WELCOME HENRY AND OWEN!
We welcomed Owen Thomas and Henry Steven into the world Sunday, December 3rd at 4:50 and 4:57 pm. Owen weighed 4 lbs 2 oz and Henry weighed 3 lbs 14 oz. Both had great Apgar scores and have been doing well for their gestational age. They were born at 33 weeks, 5 days.
They are in the Special Care Nursery and doing "as expected". Neither of them really knows how to suck yet (a trait that usually arrives at 35 weeks gestation) but once they figure that out, they will hopefully flourish. They aren't gaining weight as a result of this, but they are still doing just fine. The picture on the left is Henry sleeping, and the one on the right is Owen looking around. We think they are just TOO cute!!
