This past weekend was a busy one - we had a good friends wedding to attend. I went Friday night to the rehearsal dinner with "the girls" and it was fun. The food was great. I was so tired by the end, I had to talk the entire way home to stay awake. Allie and Erin appreciated that, I'm sure.
Saturday was the wedding, and it was beautiful! Annie and I sang and it went well. The reception was at Sequoia in Georgetown and it was stunning. The view was gorgeous and once it got dark, they turned on a bunch of white lights outside. It was KINDA cold outside, so we stayed in, but it looked absolutely beautiful. Good music, good food. Steve and Betsy watched the boys and the boys were great! They slept for a while once we came home, which was nice.
Sunday we had many visitors and relaxed and Monday we had lunch with Daddy at his office where many of his coworkers said how big the boys had gotten! Hooray! Then we visited our twin friends, Daniel and Stephen, and played for a while. (The boys in Great Aunt Julia's hats):
Now on to our first ROAD TRIP with just Mom and the boys! We went to Baltimore to meet Debi, Melissa, and Bethany who we've become friends with on our twin message board. The boys and I left here around 9:15 and got to Baltimore around 10:45, then proceeded to get lost before finding the parking garage Daddy told us to park in. Once there, we unloaded and made our way to the Aquarium. Bethany was there waiting and we hung out and talked for a while. Once noon rolled around, we decided to call Debi and Melissa and sure enough - they were LOST! Luckily, Bethany lives in B-more, so she gave them directions. It didn't help though, because there was no parking, which led them to go to the hotel, which led Bethany and me to take ourselves to lunch! We ate lunch at California Pizza Kitchen right on the water and it was freezing!!! The breeze from the bay was blowing in the open windows. But it was all worth it when the manager bought us dessert because the kids were so cute. Yum-O!
We finally met up with Debi and Melissa and hilarity ensued....
First, most of the babies started pooping. 2 pooped through their clothes, and Owen pooped 3 times. The bathroom changing table was SOOOOO hot that we would come back sweating our butts off each time we went to change one. Finally, Debi decided to just change Will right there in the food court (good for her!) and dropped the poopy diaper on the floor. Owen then peed through his clothes and got a new outfit. Zachary, Ashton, Em, and Will all got new outfits and looked lovely in their Baltimore onesies. We got Starbucks and then headed out to the water for pictures. A creepy balloon guy took our picture and asked us approximately 10 times how we knew each other. Debi finally yelled "THE COMPUTER!"
Then we began our parade in honor of Superwoman Tonya. Many comments like "WHAT? Twins?" and "Whose babies are those?" and "Damn! Look at them babies!" were yelled out at us on our walk. We stopped at CVS to get some necessities, and realized the heat was set on 100 degrees in there. Phew! A bird divebombed my head then, and I screamed and ducked out of the way. Stupid pigeons!!! :)
We got to the hotel and the babies lost all control. Owen was screaming his head off, Emma was off her rocker, and Claire and Oriah started up after they realized how annoying Owen and Emma were! We tried a group picture, but as you can see, Owen's purple face and Emma's teary eyes sort of made it impossible to get a good one. Bethany and her girls left then, and we put the babies to sleep and then watched a DVD, and part of the Holiday (which now I have to rent since I couldn't make it to the end!) and drank wine. We ordered room service and then ate Doritos an hour later!
The babies were good all night, minus a few ear-piercing screams from a constipated Owen. After the first one, Debi gasped "Jesus!" and then Owen pooped out a little rock. Poor baby! Of course, I felt bad because my boys aren't sleeping through the night and we were all in the same room, but I don't think anyone minded. Melissa slept through it!!! :)
