pic a little

This picture makes me laugh so much. It is the quintessential Waldrop kid pic. Owen being a doofus, Henry taking care of Charlotte, and Charlotte looking at Owen like "What the -?"

Again, Owen and his cheesy grin, and Henry babbling on about something:

Me and Charbaby:

"AHHHHHHH":

Lovely model for our jewelry party yesterday:

There's a new Dr. Love in town

Well, my love affair with our family doctor might be coming to an end. After meeting our new pediatric gastrointerologist yesterday, I have a new doctor to crush on. "The Butt Doctor," as Henry calls him, got to meet with Henry and me yesterday to talk about our poopy issues. It was reassuring that someone is now on our side, that Henry is not inflicted with some god-awful gut disease, and that with patience, time, and support, we can get through this. As BD said, "Henry is a bit of a control freak." I just wish he'd choose to be a control freak over picking up his toys rather than holding his poop!

Pictures soon. I need to upload!

Mother's Day rocks!

Here are a few things that happened this weekend for Mother's Day #3:
  • I took an awesome afternoon nap with Charbaby.
  • I got a new Wii game (Super Mario Bros...bringing back lots of memories. Love it!)
  • I ate a cinamon bun AANNDD 2 pieces of Sara Lee Coffeecake.
  • I changed 4 poopy diapers.
  • I gagged as Todd and I cleaned out the froggy potty full of rotavirus poop.
  • I snuggled with my boys who are infected with a little rotabug.
  • I sewed a hole in the quilt my great grandmother made for me about 30 years ago. This was special because I could tell she hand quilted it, and I was sewing right over where she quilted so long ago.
  • I broke up a few fights, and watched Todd break up a few fights.
  • I secured a sub for tomorrow and wrote sub plans.
  • I talked to my Mom who gives herself a hard time, but is a great Mom. She sent me some awesome pajamas and a lovely card. (I sent her nothing. I'm the one that sucks.)
  • I watched the boys alternate between playing hide and seek and watching "The Wizard of Oz" in the basement after dinner.
  • I ate a delicious beer butt chicken for dinner.
  • I took the boys and Char to the Natural History Museum, which was another special moment to share because I went there so often as a kid.

IT WAS A GREAT MOTHER'S DAY.

AND ROTAVIRUS CAN SUCK IT.

Deep answers to deep questions

You know that phase where your child starts asking "Why?" to everything? We are square in that phase with Owen right now. "Why is that our house?" "Why is the sky blue?" "Why are we driving this way?" and on and on....

Today in the car, we turned the tables, and our boy gave us some surprisingly deep answers. I admit, I got a little teary.

Me: Owen, why are we on the earth?
Owen: We not on the earth.

Me: Owen, why are alive?
Owen: We not alive.

Me: Owen, why are we people?
Owen: We not people. We a familly.

Catching up

Found these pics and thought I'd share. The first is pre-haircut of the boys at the playground. The 2nd is a cute pic of Char in a cute highchair at a friend's house. Isn't it the cutest chair? Thanks for the pic, K! :)

boys will be boys?

Yesterday after bath, the boys went downstairs to play. Before they went, Todd made them take an oath saying they promised to come upstairs if they had to poop. They were wearing just underwear (yeah, what?) and after about an hour of playing, they came up naked. "Where are your underwear?" we asked. "Downstairs. We peed on the bed," one of them replied. "What? ha ha ha," Todd answered. "We peed. On the bed." Todd and I exchanged glances, not sure if we heard them correctly or not. I made the move to go check out the basement.

Sure enough, a big puddle of pee was slowly seeping into the mattress. There was no remorse from the pee-ers, either. They heehawed it up and kept talking about it until bedtime. We threatened to give away their toys, and Todd seriously considered peeing on their beds in retaliation. (He said the only thing stopping him was that he'd have to clean it.) When we reminded them of their oath and asked why they didn't come upstairs to pee, they said, "We didn't have to poop, Daddy!"

Is this how boys behave? Sheesh.

I wouldn't go in there, either

At the park today, the boys had to use the potty. At this park, the choice for potties is either the green port-a-john or the grey port-a-john. Henry chose the green one, and then Owen and I went next. He got ready, looked in, and said, "What dat?" and I told him, "Other people's pee." He said, "I can't go in here. I need a better potty." So we looked in the grey potty and he said, "Nope, I can't go in there either. I need a better potty."

There are days that being a male are useful and preferable. When you can pee in the woods behind a tree without getting your socks wet? One of those days.

Bathtub woes

I took an epsom salt bath. It was a humiliating experience. But it actually did help my symptoms. Unfortunately, shoving my fat ass into a m...
