Photo Shoot

We had a couple of hours of awake time from the boys...so we took some photos!! Now they are taking a quick nap before they eat again. (Henry is wearing stripes, Owen in blue truck outfit)
I stood on the scale today with Henry and according to MY scale, he's 7 pounds! Can't be too accurate, but exciting. And of course that meant I had to see what I weighed....not a pretty picture. I thought everyone said with twins you lose the weight with no problem! WHAT!?

We finally came home...

It turns out that Todd's "flu" was actually viral meningitis! Goodness! We spent Thurs-Mon at my Dad's house and let Todd recover at home. His parents cleaned the whole house and made it very nice to come home to. Todd's fever hasn't returned since last night, so I am hoping that it will stay gone, especially since we came home today! The boys have missed their Daddy and I've missed him, too!! I can't wait until I relax a little so we can all kiss him!

Remember, if you have a stiff neck and fever, go to the doctor ASAP! I wish we had. Thank goodness it was just the viral kind.

And wash your hands!!!

Of all the things to happen...

Todd has the flu!! Seriously. The coughing, aching, fever of 102 flu. The babies and I immediately moved to the living room and I've been sleeping on the couch....again! I thought the bed rest adventure was over! No, it's not that bad being on the couch, it's just bad panicking and worrying that my preemie boys will get the flu. That would be absolutely horrific. A lot of people thing that the boys aren't preemies once they get to their due date or get to a certain weight...but the fact is, they are preemies forever, and their immune systems are not as strong. So a bug like the flu would be a nightmare. An adult comes down with the cold, and the preemies get a BAD respiratory disease that can be fatal. Some people think we are being anal, but it is very serious. At any rate, it's been 4 days since Todd started showing symptoms, so hopefully we won't get it. I am taking Tamiflu, and even though it probably won't make a difference, it gives me some hope!
Another sad thing is that we sent the dogs to a friends house until the chaos ends. It is so sad to not have them around. I know Todd is missing the only family member that would snuggle with him, too. It's sad, but hopefully they can come back this weekend when Todd is feeling better. I'll tell ya what, if his fever comes back tonight, I am paging the doctor. 4 days of fever is unacceptable!
OK - off to my 6 weeks postpartum appointment. Hopefully both boys won't wake up while I'm gone or mother-in-law may panic. I have already said that calling Todd down to help, even with a mask and gloves - is NOT an option!
Fingers crossed for no disease spreading!!!

A week of firsts!

We have had a busy week! We went on our first walk, had our first baths, and made our first pitcher of formula! :) Here's Dad and Jamison getting to know Henry!

Family all over!

We are entertaining Todd's whole family this weekend! It's been a lot of help, and Todd and I finally ate like normal people today - you know, before 3PM, not just a handful of Lays, etc. We had bagels, subs, and Outback! Excellent. The boys, too, are eating like hogs! They have been taking more then 3 ounces at each feeding today! Pigs!
It's finally time for bed - everyone is gone or in bed. Except us, of course. We're heading there now. Yay!

How can anyone afford food???

I have been meeting with day care providers and am shocked at the weekly rates for our cutie-pies!!! I mean, I knew that it would be high because of where we live, but I didn't realize that even home day care providers would be so high. Seriously. I have been to a few places and while I like the people, I can't justify spending $450 a week on day care. Unfortunately, not working is not an option. And when you figure it will just be until the summer starts, I guess it's not too much in the long run.

Anyway, just a vent about my day today!!

The boys are doing well. Here's a CUTE picture of Henry eating Owen's finger while Owen sleeps, and another one of the boys and Mom.

Family Photo

We're all home!!!

Owen came home this afternoon! Now we are all home and getting to know each other a little better. Both boys look and sound just alike, so we are going to spend some time figuring out how to tell them apart before we take off their arm bands!!
Owen weighed 4 lbs 9 oz when he was discharged today and so far is doing well. Both ate and now both are napping (and grunting) in their bassinet.
Time to eat and rest!

Henry's home!

Our little Henry came home yesterday afternoon. We came home and were all tired, so we rested all afternoon and evening. Mom went to visit Owen around 5 and Dad went around 8. It is very hard having Owen in the NICU still, but it's the best place for him. He needs to learn how to eat better than he is! Hopefully he'll be home before Christmas....fingers crossed.
The night with Henry was pretty good. It is hard to have to get up to feed him and get up to pump, but we did OK. The hardest part was not being able to fall asleep because I wanted to make sure he was breathing all night! I could barely close my eyes for 5 minutes because I was so nervous. Plus, he hasn't pooped since we've been home, so every sound I hear I think he's pooping, get excited, then it's just gas! I hate to say it, but I think he may have just pooped...it's sure to be a blowout!!! :)
Today we plan to visit Owen separately (I'll try not to cry this time) and hang out at home and nap. It's hard to imagine what this will be like when Owen comes home, too...but I think we can do it! Here's to hoping.

Big boys!

Owen is about an ounce away from his birth weight! He's starting to figure out how to eat, too. Keep up the good work, Owen!
Henry had his feeding tube removed today!! He is taking all of his feedings by mouth, now! Way to go!
Mom spent 3 hours with them this afternoon and will go back with Dad later tonight. We are taking infant CPR on Saturday and either relaxing with a baby or relaxing in preparation for a baby.
Can't wait for them to come home!!!

Bathtub woes

I took an epsom salt bath. It was a humiliating experience. But it actually did help my symptoms. Unfortunately, shoving my fat ass into a m...
