Day 1: TASTE

Every year at the end of June until the 4th of July, Chicago hosts Taste of Chicago. When we lived there, we went every year. We had booth favorites and battled the oppressive heat with beer, beer, and more beer. This year, we planned our Chicago trip to coincide with this annual event. We lucked out big time with nice weather. We didn't have to fight the heat, but we did have to fight the crowds. 75% of the people that come to Taste really should take themselves to the gym instead of buying that huge turkey leg and standing in my way while eating it and dripping barbecue sauce down their chin and into their cleavage.

That said, we sampled the usual fare - cheeseburgers from Billy Goat Tavern, mozzarella bread, mozzarella sticks, red beans and rice, chocolate covered bananas, Thai shining noodles, meatball subs, and as you can see from the last picture, Owen sampled his shoe grime.

Todd took some action shots of the seagulls, who weren't afraid to come snatch some tasties out from under you. Or poop on you. Anyone I know get pooped on? Hm? We sang "Love and Marriage" around Buckingham Fountain, we let the boys push their strollers around for a bit, and then we returned home for a yummy pizza, salad, and wine.

(For those of you that were wondering...the plane ride there was overall, a good time. We had some definite moments of shrillness and tears, but it was generally a pretty easy trip. The highlight was waking up the morning of our flight to Owen's eye sealed shut...luckily, we had some pink eye medicine from when I thought he had pink eye months ago, so we gave him some squirts, and off we went. It of course migrated to his other eye while we were there, but he is getting much better now. Just waiting for the next one of us to get it. )

The rest of our adventures to follow tomorrow.

Bathtub woes

I took an epsom salt bath. It was a humiliating experience. But it actually did help my symptoms. Unfortunately, shoving my fat ass into a m...
